A former Chattanooga Preparatory School teacher on Wednesday was sentenced to 225 months in federal prison for seeking to entice students to have inappropriate sexual relations with him.

Kenya White appeared before Judge Curtis Collier.

White initially had faced up to a life prison sentence.

In his earlier guilty plea to enticement, prosecutors said White exchanged multiple text messages with two students and sought to get them to send him explicit photos of themselves.

He asked one to allow him to perform a sex act, it was stated.

He faces 15-30 years in federal prison on one charge and 10 years to life on another.

Judge Collier said, "The last thing parents need to worry about is sending their children to school to become sexual objects,"

His initial arrest in state court came on Feb. 13.
