AIR POLLUTION CONTROL BOARD SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT

Notice is hereby given that the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Board will receive public comments upon a proposed Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) Air Quality Permit modification for the following air pollutant source in Hamilton County, TN.

Volkswagen Group of America Chattanooga Operations, LLC, has proposed to modify an existing automobile assembly plant at 8001 Volkswagen Dr., Chattanooga, TN, through the construction and operation of an electric vehicle expansion project. The project will consist of the expansion of an automobile body shop and the addition of a battery assembly building. The project will result in no increase in allowable air pollutant emissions from any existing equipment. However, potential air pollutant emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from existing equipment will increase by 196.43 tons/year due to increased production. Proposed new sources of air pollutant emissions resulting from the project are a curing oven, laser welding station, aluminum welding operation, and air handling units. Potential air pollutant emissions resulting from this new equipment are estimated to be 3.27 tons/year of particulate matter, 2.73 tons/year of nitrogen oxides, 2.65 tons/year of carbon monoxide, 0.17 ton/year of VOCs, and 0.02 ton/year of sulfur oxides. The oven and air handling units will be fueled exclusively by natural gas.

Questions may be directed to Robert Kalch, P.E., Bureau Engineer, at 423.643.5990. The permit application and the preliminary determination with a draft revised PSD Permit may be inspected at the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau (the Bureau), 6125 Preservation Dr., Suite 140, Chattanooga, TN 37416-3740 or online at apcb.us/public-notice beginning at 8 a.m. EST, January 2, 2020.

Anyone desiring to request a public hearing concerning this proposed permitting action should make that request in writing and deliver it to the Bureau Director at the above address by 4:30 p.m. EST, Friday, February 14, 2020. If a public hearing is requested, the hearing will be held Friday, February 21, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. EST at the Bonny Oaks Corporate Center, 6125 Preservation Dr., Chattanooga, TN. If no request for a public hearing is received, the hearing will be cancelled. Notice of meeting cancellation will be posted on the Bureau’s website apcb.org by 10:00 a.m. EST, Monday, February 17, 2020, and by publication in the Chattanooga Times Free Press by Wednesday, February, 19, 2020. To find out if the hearing has been cancelled, contact Amber Boles, Bureau Public Relations Specialist, at 423.643.5989 or Robert Kalch, P.E., Bureau Engineer, at 423.643.5990.

Lost and Found

LOST WHITE MALE CORGI MIX

We recently lost a white male Corgi Mix with a black and pink collar in the East Brained area. He bolted during a storm last week and could be anywhere. He is very afraid of people and tends to hide under things when he is afraid. It's unlikely he would come up to anyone unless he was very hungry and food was offered. Just a sighting would help. Please call 423/320-0357.
