Beer Board Gives Green Light To New Taco Mamacita At Hamilton Place

Taco Mamacita, located at 2031 Hamilton Place Blvd. and the newest restaurant owned by the Monen Family Restaurant Group, opened a week ago, but has been unable to sell beer to complement the food until today. An application was made for a beer license at the Chattanooga Beer Board meetings on both Feb. 15 and March 7, but no vote could be taken due to the lack of a quorum. The Beer Board is made up of volunteers who cannot be required to attend all meetings.

A vote requires a vote of five members of the board who must be present.

Taco Mamacita at Hamilton Place is the sixth restaurant in Chattanooga owned by the Monens with the first five having a license to sell beer. The board had been unable to vote  at the previous two meetings because of a family conflict of interest with one of the board members and Teneley Brown who was representing the restaurant at the meetings.

To help the restaurant to be able to serve beer to accompany the fresh Mexican food they specialize in, the board arranged to have a special called meeting today with a quorum present to ensure a vote could be taken.

Taco Mamacita was unanimously given a permit to sell beer at the new location. Hours at this location are from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday  through Sunday.

Other restaurants in Chattanooga that are owned and operated by the Monen Family Restaurant Group include the original Taco Mamacita on North Market Street, Hi-Fi Clyde's, Community Pie, Milk and Honey, and Urban Stack.
