City Of Chattanooga And Verizon Partnership Supports First Responders

  • Thursday, April 18, 2024
The city of Chattanooga joined Hamilton County Emergency Management and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office in partnering with Verizon’s Government Sector Team and the Verizon Frontline Crisis Response Team to lead an initiative that significantly improves communications access to First Responders across much of the state of Tennessee and parts of Georgia.

"Communication infrastructure is critical in every emergency. We thoroughly appreciate the efforts of communication companies like Verizon in supporting us in keeping Chattanooga's residents safe during times of crisis, “ said Chattanooga Police Chief Celeste Murphy.

More than 150 regional first responders participated in an event last Thursday showcasing Verizon’s public safety technology.
The Roadshow provided a chance to meet Verizon Wireless team members. Also in attendance were Verizon’s partners Pelsue, Cradlepoint, Inseego, CSG, Motorola, Panorama, Connect, Gridless and UAS.

Department of Technology Services Director of Business and Finance Management for the city James Cutcliff partnered in organizing the event. He said, “The city’s Technology Services team works behind the scenes daily to ensure that all departments have the technology tools and support to carry out their daily responsibilities. Network accessibility, critical infrastructure and communication tools that support CPD and CFD, as well as citizen access to request services like garbage removal are all supported items.

“Being able to offer that same level of service 24 hours a day, seven days a week during a crisis event like a tornado or other disruption is critical to the safety and wellbeing of citizens. Verizon’s cellular communications capabilities and commitment to area governments, businesses and residents help make this possible.”

He also noted that Brad Posey, Verizon government account executive, and Jacob Hayes, public safety account manager, play an important role in supporting cellular services and equipment to the city.
