Cleveland City Board Of Education Announces 3 Finalists For Director Of Schools Position

The Cleveland City Board of Education announced the selection of three finalists for the role of Director of Schools.

After an extensive search process, the Board has identified Dr. Jeff Elliott, Dr. Amie Wilder Lonas, and Dr. Terrance M. Sanders as candidates who exemplify the vision, leadership, and commitment required to lead Cleveland City Schools.

Each finalist brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of excellence in education leadership:

Dr.

Jeff Elliott, Chief of Staff, Cleveland City Schools
Dr. Elliott currently serves as Chief of Staff at Cleveland City Schools in Tennessee. He holds a Doctor of Education in Learning and Leadership from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, along with several other degrees and certifications in education. Dr. Elliott has extensive experience in educational leadership and curriculum development, having served in various roles including Chief Academic Officer. He has spearheaded initiatives such as the implementation of STEM programs and the development of district-wide curriculum frameworks, significantly enhancing teaching practices and student learning outcomes throughout his career.

Dr. Amie Wilder Lonas, Provost, Joint Special Operations University, Tampa, Fl.
Dr. Amie Wilder Lonas brings extensive experience in both academic and military settings. Currently serving as Provost at the Joint Special Operations University in Tampa, Florida, she holds an Ed.D. in Education Leadership from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Lonas has spearheaded organizational change initiatives, developed comprehensive curriculum reviews, and overseen faculty development. Her background in academic administration, curriculum development, and faculty training has made significant contributions to institutions such as the Joint Special Operations University and the National Defense University. Additionally, her military experience as a Force Support Officer in the Tennessee Air National Guard highlights her diverse skill set and leadership capabilities.

Dr. Terrance M. Sanders, Deputy Superintendent, San Marcos CISD, Tx.
Dr. Terrance Sanders, currently serving as Deputy Superintendent at San Marcos CISD in Texas, is an accomplished educational leader with a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. Throughout his tenure in various school districts, including Union County Public Schools, Dr. Sanders has demonstrated integrity, effective communication, and adeptness in navigating community politics while prioritizing student success. His leadership prowess is evident in initiatives such as leading the development of strategic plans, managing substantial budgets, and implementing programs to enhance academic achievement. With a wealth of experience in instructional improvement, curriculum development, and leadership development, Dr. Sanders stands as a beacon of educational excellence, dedicated to shaping future generations.

The finalist interviews will be held at 6 p.m. at Mayfield Elementary School with the Cleveland City Board of Education on the following dates:
