Huggins, Huwald And Morton: Gunning For Granger Program Is May 11

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a special one-hour ranger-led hike on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. that will explore the action along Forrest Road and will discuss the role of Huwald, Huggins and Morton’s Confederate Batteries on Sept. 20, 1863. 

Officials said, "This discussion will focus on the gunners’ attempts to impede the advance of Union General Gordon Granger’s Reserve Corps to the crest of Horseshoe Ridge. Participants will park/gather at Tour Stop 2 and take the 0.6-mile hike to the Tennessee Artillery Monument.

"Comfortable footwear, clothing appropriate for the weather, and water are recommended.
Participants are welcome to bring folding chairs."
