District 2 School Board Debate Is May 11

The Signal Mountain High School Democrats will sponsor a debate for candidates for Hamilton County School Board District 2 on Saturday, May 11, from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Red Bank Community Center at 3620 Tom Weathers Dr. 

The two candidates who have qualified to be on the ballot, Crystal Boehm (Independent) and Ben Daugherty (Republican), have agreed to participate in the debate, which will be moderated by David Carroll. The debate will start with a series of questions developed by the members of SMHSD, followed by questions from the floor.

Officials said, "There is an ongoing election for the School Board Representative for District 2.
The SMHSD believes that school board elections are critical to the development of education in Hamilton County. As a result, we would like to offer a chance for the community to meet the candidates they are to vote on and learn where they stand on issues of importance to the community they wish to represent."
 
The Hamilton County School Board election is on Thursday, Aug. 1. Early voting runs from Friday, July 12 through Saturday, July 27. District 2 voting precincts include Fairmount, Falling Water B, Mountain Creek A, B & C, Mowbray A, Northwood, Signal Mountain A & B and Walden.
