The deluge that soaked the Towhee Club in Spring Hill on Saturday forced postponement of the Tennessee Golf Association’s inaugural event on the calendar.
The Men’s Mid-Amateur Four-Ball tournament will be rescheduled at Towhee likely this fall after course conditions on Sunday made finishing the event impractical.
Afternoon storms on Saturday suspended play with only one-third of the groups able to complete their opening round of the two-day event. With some contestants through only four holes in their opening round, the TGA opted to reschedule the tournament at a future date with a fresh restart.
The cancellation wiped away an impressive start from Aaron Ingalls of Jackson and Jeff Reuter of Humboldt. The duo combined to shoot 10-under 60 as a handful of teams completed their round before the rains arrived.
Lucas Armstrong of Church Hill and Payne Denman of Murfreesboro are defending champions in the event after winning by four shots last year.
This is the fourth year for this competition, with Towhee hosting it for the second straight year on the par 70 layout playing at 6,513 yards.
