Tim Belcher, 75 of Ooltewah, Tennessee, an avid fisherman and carpenter, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2024.

He was a member of Savannah Bay Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon for several years. Tim was known there and everywhere else as the “candy man” because he was always passing out candy wherever he went.

Saying the Tim loved to fish, was just scratching the surface of his love for this sport. He was one of the founding members of the CBA Tournament at Chester Frost Park. Tim fished the Hungry Fisherman and Guys and Dolls Tournaments. He was a former member of the Harrison Bass Masters, where he and Red Anderson sponsored the Tuesday Night Dog Fight at Harrison Bay. Because of Tim’s love for fishing, he developed some tremendous lifelong friendships with Dennie Smith, Paul Wright, Red Anderson, Duane Dalton, Edwin Yancy, and Harold Neely.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Belcher; brothers, Russell and Ben Stewart and his mother and father-in-law, Lorean and Floyd Evans, who treated Tim as their son.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Joyce Evans Belcher; son, Rome (Amy) Belcher of Woodstock, Ga.; daughter, Buffy Arminda LaSean Belcher of Chattanooga, TN; grandson, Tyler Kibble and as she likes to be called his “amazing granddaughter”, Lorelei Belcher, who called him “Popsy Whopsy”; brothers Fred (Pauline) Stewart and Steve Pevehouse; sister-in-laws, Emma Stewart and Sharon Stewart; special nephew, Tim (Pam) Stewart, several other nieces, nephews and cousins; the sister he wished he would have had, Denise Lee.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Butch Palmer, Manuel Butler, Tim Stewart, Marvin Barbee and Taylor Sweeton for taking Tim fishing in his last days.

A heartfelt thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care they provided Tim this past year. Words can not begin to describe how much we appreciate all the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice and what the following people meant not only to Tim but to our family, Nurse Sam Chitu and his family, his Social Workers, Myranda Bronnert and Jessica Meadows, Dr. Susan Gouge and Chaplain Rob Cravens, whom he enjoyed long talks with.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tom McGuirt and Chaplain Rob Cravens officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
