Driving The Trash To A Distant Location Won't Cut It

Concerning the high dump fee, I think it is crazy that the disposal owner replied with a bunch of places that you think is convenient for Soddy Daisy residents to dispose of their trash.  Especially, since you wouldn't return the call from the gentleman who brought this to Chattanoogan.com.

And, if rushing with the oil can to silence the greasy wheel wasn't bad enough, you blame Chattanoogan.com for "not researching" the information provided.

So let me tell you how I feel (which is my view or opinion and not Chattanoogan.com's views)  Soddy Daisy had a facility run by Hamilton County that was convenient because it was in Hamilton County, affordable, because you paid per bag (normally...for regular trash) and some people dont have enough trash to pay the fat prices that the businesses that services our area charge.

I could understand if the services were used by a few people, but many get the monthly service.  When the machine at the county-run facility was in need of repair, former County Mayor Jim Coppinger didnt want to repair it.  He apparently asked Soddy Daisy to contribute, and they didn't want to either.

I guess Soddy Daisy wanted to squirrel up the money so they could say, "Hey let us vote to give us a payday."  It was crazy not to invest for the repairs.  If anyone was interested or truly cared about the residents in our community, there could have been a sub-site dump with dumpsters for SD residents to use.

Set it up at the previous dump in Soddy Daisy.  Then have a few trucks to empty....maybe open two days per week.  There's always a solution to make things work.  The work comes from finding that solution.  But I guess some people aren't in the positions to better our county as much as it is for status and power.

Stopping our service didn't solve anything.  It created problems....we still have trash. I see more trash thrown out along the roadways in Soddy than ever before.  And sir, your solution was almost as crazy as cutting out our dump.  I will never travel to North Georgia to dispose of my trash. Never.  Nor will I drive a half hour one-way at $3.50 per gallon of gas in a pickup with five or six bags.

And, by the way, the private robbers, I mean waste business(s) do charge a ridiculous amount.  If you drive through with a pickup, it ranges $30-$50 (my personal experience) that is not piled up, but enough bags (6-8) to cover the truck bed.  I asked if it would be cheaper to take the kitchen bags and put them in bigger bags to have 2 or 3.  I was quickly told no that was standard pricing for a pickup.

That is wrong.  That is taking advantage.  I wish that all these dumb decision makers would have to drive to neighboring counties, states or across the river to dispose of their trash.  It is a wonderful way to waste two or three hours of your day.

So sir, in closing, don't put on the "Omg, I can't believe you wrote that and they printed it," innocent act. You have, probably, a trash bag of messages you never returned the call or followed up on.  You don't care cause you profit from it.  Therefore; no solution is needed.

One time i just wish someone would be honest and say they dont care or whatever as long as they're honest and not treat people like they're stupid with the dumb reply of traveling to other counties/states.  You should be demoted because no one would want to do business with anything you are affiliated with.  Maybe you should ride on the trucks instead of throwing out the bull.
