Alma Louise Millaway
Alma Louise Millaway, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on May 2, 2024, at the age of 88.
She was born October 17, 1935 in Sevierville, Tn., where she spent her childhood and graduated from Young High School.
Alma ran a successful childcare business for over 10 years and was loved by all the children and their parents. After that time, she worked as a receptionist for over 20 years for Dr. Skip and Brenda Fennewald. She truly loved Dr. Skip and Brenda and looked forward to going to work every day.
Alma was an avid golfer, and she accomplished the feat of two holes in one during her golfing career. She was a member of Creeks Bend Golf Club for many years, where she enjoyed playing golf and cards with many of her friends. Alma attended Abba’s House for 50 years and was a devoted member of the choir. She was always well put together and always strived to put her best self forward. She was a wonderful cook, and everyone looked forward to receiving her delicious candy platters that she made for Christmas.
Alma is survived by her daughters, Karen Russell Reynolds (John) and Jennifer Russell Rogers (Gerry), grandchildren, Matthew Reynolds, Ashley Reynolds, Connor Reynolds, Nathaniel Vogt, Mackenzie Vogt and Andrew Rogers, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Millaway; father, Clarence Rule; mother, Hassie Reed; and siblings, Pauline Lane, Troye Rule, Charles Rule, Peggy Armour, and Anna Ruth Vandergriff.
Visitation will be held at Hamilton Funeral Home Monday, May 13, from 5-7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, May 14, from 11:30 a.m. until funeral service time at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2 p.m. where Alma will be buried with her husband James.
