On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Covenant Track and Field team competed in the CCS Outdoor Championships. In total, three different student-athletes won their event. As a team, the men placed fifth while the women came in fourth.
Emma Christensen won the High Jump for the second year in a row, with a school-record jump of 1.60m. In total, Christensen competed in four events: 100m (6th, 12.90), 200m (9th Prelims, 27.23), and Triple Jump (5th, 10.03). Each result she had ranks in the top-five in school history.
Sarah Holler was the other women's conference champion for the Scots with a jump of 2.60m in the Pole Vault. She also finished ninth in the High Jump in her first time competing in the event.
Freshman Emily Lane secured a pair of podium finishes for the Scots. With a school-record throw of 36.77 in the Discus, she finished second. In the Javelin Throw with a personal-record throw of 29.48m, Lane placed third. Her Javelin Throw is the second-longest in program history.
Also earning a second-place medal was freshman Evangelia Berry with a time of 44:21.99 in the 10k. In her first conference meet, Berry also finished fourth in the 5k with a time of 19:56.87.
Dorman secured a third-place podium finish in the 1500m with a time of 5:00.68. Dorman also competed in the 800m (6th, 2:30.77), and the 5k (7th, 20:49.23).
Emmerson Tillery completed the 10k in 45:53.70 to finish fourth. She also raced in the 5k and finished 10th with a time of 22:02.81.
With a personal-record time of 13:54.76 in the 3k Steeple, Anna Dolan placed sixth. She also posted an 11th-place result in the 5k with a time of 22:11.27.
Daehla Smith competed in four different events for Covenant. She finished 14th in the Long Jump with a personal-record jump of 4.54m. She did not make it out of prelims in the other events she competed in: 100m (13.62), 200m (28.37), and 400m (1:04.59). Her 400m time is a personal record.
Kali Hina had a season-best time of 6:06.22 in the 1500m to finish 10th. Hina also raced in the 800m, but did not make it out of prelims with a time of 2:54.04.
Liv Free placed 24th in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 17.27m.
The team of Christensen, Dorman, Smith, and Berry finished fourth in the 4x400m relay event with a time of 4:27.11.
In the men's competition, Freshman Riley Everett earned the first-place finish in the Shot Put with a school-record throw of 13.63m. He now holds the top-four throws in program history for this event.
Freshman Ethan Saiki had an impressive showing, earning second place in the 3k Steeple with a time of 10:36.92. Saiki also led a group of five Scots who raced in the 5k with a fourth-place result and a time of 16:50.54.
Cheney Byrd earned himself a medal with a second-place finish in the Hammer Throw with a throw of 37.06m, which is the second-best in program history. Cheney also placed fifth in the Discus (36.78m) and 10th in the Shot Put (10.56m).
Chander Lines set personal records in two different events: 800m (5th, 2:02.17), and 1500m (7th, 4:17.46).
Ethan Caswell was right behind Lines in both the 800m (6th, 2:06.85), and the 1500m (8th, 4:19.61).
Alex Burns ended his freshman campaign with a sixth-place result in the 5k with a time of 17:10.36 and a 13th-place result in the 800m prelims with a time of 2:09.63.
John Purtill set a new personal record in the 10k with a time of 36:46.21 to place him fifth. Purtill also earned seventh place in the 5k, posting a time of 17:12.95.
Will Holland raced in the two events as Purtill and was just behind him: 5k (8th, 17:28.35), and 10k (6th, 37:48.78).
Aidan Devries set two personal records in his first conference meet: 800m (19th prelims, 2:19.65), and 1500m (17th, 4:54.01).
Karsten Halvorson had a pair of personal-record throws for the Scots: Shot Put (12th, 10.30m) and Javelin (16th, 31.51m).
The team of Burns, Lines, Saiki, and Caswell had a podium finish in the 4x400m, taking third with a time of 3:47.04.
Covenant will wait to see if any of its student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Myrtle Beach.
