Lee Basketball Has Four Players Named To Academic All-District Team

The Lee University basketball teams had four players named to the 2023-24 Academic All-District Teams for their excellence in the classroom. The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Basektball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. 

To qualify for the recognition, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale), and student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games played or must start in at least 66 percent of the games.

For the Lady Flames, Anna Muhonen, Mallory Hampton, and Haylee Johnson all received recognition. Muhonen, a junior, has a 4.0 GPA in interdisciplinary studies. Hampton, a senior, has a 3.597 GPA in health science. Junior Johnson, has a 3.627 GPA in biochemistry.

JJ Barnes received recognition from the Flames. A graduate student, senior, has a 4.00 GPA while earning his MBA.

Hampton advanced to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The CSC Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 16 (women) and April 17 (men). Selections will be made by CSC members.

The Academic All-District® award recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Nominees must have achieved sophomore standing or higher, have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA, and compete in 90 percent or start in at least 66 percent of their team’s games. Each member of the Academic All-District® Team who met the selection criteria was recognized. Institutions were able to nominate a maximum of four student-athletes for each team.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2032-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
