Mary Jane Lawrence, 91, of Chattanooga, died on August 19, 2009 at the Soddy Daisy Healthcare Center, after an extended illness.

She lived a full and useful life and shared her boundless and unqualified love with her family and everyone else she met.

She was born in Roberts, Wi., and moved to Chattanooga after marrying Archie Lawrence while he served in the U.S. Army.

She was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and loved her church and pastor.

Mary Jane was employed as a secretary at Ridgedale and East Lake Elementary Schools in Chattanooga for a total of 33 years. She loved all children, and made a significant positive impact on many young lives.

Mary Jane was a member of the Chattanooga Writer’s Club and enjoyed writing poetry.

Her husband, Archie Lawrence, parents, Robert and Mona Graham, sister, Betty Hughes and brother, John Graham preceded her in death.

Her sister, Margaret Doornink of Wisconsin, and brother, David Graham of Minnesota, her children and spouses, Suzanne and Jim Wright of Madisonville, Tn., Tom and Jennye Lawrence of Soddy Daisy, Sharon and Joe Roberts of Lynnville, Tn., Dave and Linda Lawrence of Kingsport, Tn., 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren survive her.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel. Pastor Bill Owens of Ridgedale Baptist Church will perform the service. Interment will be at National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
