James Leslie Tate, 86, of Hixson, died on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, son of the late Claude L. and Nellie Hudson Tate. James was retired from Seaboard Poultry and a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
His wife, Henrietta Giles Tate, preceded him in death.
Survivors are his children, Claudia (Gary) Williams; Roger (Shirley) Giles; grandchildren, Aaron (Amy) Williams and Abbey (Mike) Bratcher; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Betty) Tate; and sister, Gradena Miller.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medical staff and friends at Hixson Dialysis Clinic for their care and friendship of James.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, October 28, at the North Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Mark Gooden officiating.
