Chattanooga Park Stewards Host "Save The Trail" Near Tyner Community Center

Friday, November 09, 2012

The City of Chattanooga Park Steward Program invites the public of all ages to Tyner Community Center, next to Tyner Academy, to save the community walking trail.

Park Stewards will lay down screenings, rock, blow off leaves and pick up the hundreds of plastic bottles thrown around the old existing trail. The public is asked to bring gloves and a sturdy rake, and Park Stewards will bring the rest.

The event starts at 10 a.m. and phase one should be done around noon. Families are welcome and litter grabbers and trash bags will be provided.

Officials said, "This will also serve as a great teaching tool ahead of America Recycle’s Day, Nov.15."

Interested parties can email Brian Smith at smith_br@chattanooga.gov or sign up on the facebook page, http://www.facebook.com/events/439146786132882/

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)

Today the book is a classic and I have marveled ever since over how unbelievable human ... (click for more)
