Free Comic Book Day is back at the Downtown Library auditorium on Saturday, May 5, from 2:30-5 p.m. Free comics will be given away while supplies last.
Participants may bring comics to trade at the “Super Swap” station.
There will be a recent super hero movie shown featuring a green lantern. Local artists will be on-hand to demonstrate drawing techniques. Other activities include a back-to-back drawing board face-off and crafts - make a comic book wallet, comic book refrigerator magnets, pendants and a mask (hero or villain.) Prizes include: an iron-on T-shirt, a complete set of the comic books on display, and popular cartoon books.
For younger comic fans, the Children’s Department will have an art-themed story time from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Children under 12 will hear stories about drawing, can create their own cartoons, and take home a free comic. They may come dressed in their favorite hero or villain costume.
