Thunder Thornton Lines Up Pat Summitt, Philip Fulmer For Opening Of Jasper Highlands

  • Tuesday, May 1, 2012

Thunder Enterprises will host a special showcase event of its most recent "pristine-mountain development," Jasper Highlands, and it will feature eight-time NCAA National Champion former Lady Vols Basketball Coach Pat Summitt and former Vols Football Coach Phillip Fulmer.

The event will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET. and will include tours of the homesites that sit atop Jasper Mountain in Marion County.

This will be Pat Summitt’s first public appearance since announcing her retirement on Wednesday, April 18, and the day will include a special presentation by Chattanooga developer John “Thunder” Thornton to the Pat Summitt Foundation.

“I have known Pat and Phillip for many years, and during that time, we have developed a strong friendship,” said Mr. Thornton. “I am honored to have them visit my latest development and participate in helping to build Pat’s Foundation to help others with early onset dementia. She truly is doing important work in the fight against dementia.”

Jasper Highlands features more than 9,000 acres atop Jasper Mountain with 21 miles of brow property. The community is only six minutes from Interstate 24 and just 25 minutes to Chattanooga.

“Since we opened less than a month ago, we have more than 30 percent of the properties spoken for in phase one of the development,” said Dane Bradshaw, president of Thunder Enterprises. “The homesites offer spectacular views of the Tennessee River, convenient proximity and incredible pricing, which is why we are ahead of schedule on our aggressive goal of 99 lots in 99 days.”

One to eight-acre lots are available and for a limited-time will be sold for 80 percent below asking price with a percentage of land sales benefiting the Pat Summitt Foundation, officials said. The Foundation helps individuals who have been diagnosed with early onset dementia, Alzheimer’s type, and their families by offering education and awareness support services, and research to treat, prevent, cure and ultimately eradicate the disease.

The event is open to the public and tours will begin at 9 a.m. ET. However, reservations are required.
