East Ridge Police Say No Rape Actually Occurred At East Ridge Middle School; Say Girl, 13, Was Lying

  • Monday, May 14, 2012

East Ridge criminal investigators said Monday they have determined that a 13-year-old East Ridge Middle School female student who claimed she was raped in a school restroom during school was lying.

"A rape did not occur at East Ridge Middle School and a stranger was not involved," police said.

Investigators are working to find exactly what may have occurred at another location away from school. The investigation is ongoing.

After the girl reported the alleged rape, she was taken to the Rape Crisis Center for further evaluation.

The victim described her alleged assailant as a light-skinned black male, approximately 15 years of age, with low cut hair.  She claimed he was wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans. Child Protective Services was also notified of the incident.

Meanwhile, East Ridge Police said they are investigating an alleged sexual assault that reportedly occurred at East Ridge Elementary School on March 30. An 11-year-old autistic child told his parents that he was sexually assaulted by two other 10- or 11-year-old children in the restroom while at school.

East Ridge criminal investigators notified Child Protective Services and a joint investigation is being conducted with the Child Protective Investigation Team (CPIT).
