GPS Beats Briarcrest For Shot At Baylor For Title

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The domination by Baylor and GPS in Division II softball continues.

GPS rolled past Briarcreest Christian, 10-1, Thursday night in the losers bracket final.

On Friday night at 8 eastern, the Bruisers (25-12) will face rival Baylor (39-5) for the II-AA championship. If GPS wins, another game will be played Saturday.

GPS and Baylor have combined for 11 of the last 14 Division II state tiles.

Bailey Davenport ws 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored against Briarcrest.

Taylor Battle, Morgan Lane, Kelby Crownover and Abbey Anderson had two hits each in GPS's 16-hit attack.

Corey Swafford earned the win, giving up five hits and striking out five.

"I told the girls great job coming back to get to the championship game,'' GPS coach Susan Crownover said.

Lauren Provence had two hits for Briarcrest, which ended its season 37-7.
