Bloomberg Ranks Chattanooga-Based Manager Among Best In 2012

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

Bloomberg LP’s weekly newsletter on the hedge fund industry has listed Chattanooga-based Lauren Templeton Capital Management (“LTCM”) as managing one of the 10 highest performing equity market neutral strategies in 2012.

Based on its own research compiled on hedge funds across the industry, Bloomberg’s weekly published Bloomberg Brief Newsletter ranks Lauren Templeton Capital Management as number seven among the top ten for equity market neutral strategies.

Lauren Templeton Capital Management’s maximum pessimism strategy is concentrated on locating and purchasing bargain stocks, while selling short potentially overvalued securities. LTCM managers follow the investment philosophy and selection methodologies of seed investor, Sir John Templeton.

Founder and Principal Lauren Templeton said, “We enjoy investing in the current environment, because the pessimism and volatility tends to create more opportunities than usual, and we believe our methods are well suited to these types of markets.”

Scott Phillips, portfolio manager at LTCM added, “Most often, the greatest opportunities appear because there is little public interest in owning stocks, and we welcome revived talk about the “death of equities” and so forth. To borrow from Mark Twain, we feel like their ‘death has been greatly exaggerated.’"
