As a long-term resident of City Council District 2, Roger Tuder is just the change we need.

Roger Tuder has served for decades in financial management capacities as a bank officer and manager of multi-million-dollar projects. I trust his judgment. Roger Tuder has more institutional knowledge of local government, procurement processes, and the city’s bond debt of approximately $450 million than another candidate.

We should measure candidates on their actions, not words. Mr. Tuder has been involved and worked diligently on opposition issues to the 191 percent increase in stormwater fees, and has been active and vocal as a citizen leader. For the past 10 years, Roger Tuder has been a voice of the citizens opposing adverse actions from taxation and supporting economic growth. The other two candidates have been noticeably absent.

While former city employees in District 2 come out of the wood work to proclaim their platform of better government, I have to ask where were you guys when Roger Tuder was doing the heavy lifting on stormwater fees, property taxes, and transparency. We never saw you at any hearings for stormwater, property taxes, or for any problem.

While the rhetoric from the swing set manager and 30-year clerk in City District 2 abound, where were you guys when Rome was burning, not in the hearings to oppose for sure?

Break the cycle of the same dysfunctional group running the city, and elect Roget Tuder, City Council District 2. He is formally endorsed by the Chattanooga Fire Fighters Association, and so many more.

While I respect Ms. Eidson's right to an opinion and respect her right to support a candidate, I don't think she had all the facts. 

Where was I during the last 10 years Ms. Eidson asked? Until Dec. 31, 2009 I was working in the finance department trying to make government better from the inside.  I was not a "clerk" but a certified government financial manager.  As a city employee we were not allowed to publicly voice opposition to any issues and not allowed to be involved in city politics.   

While I commend Mr. Tuder for his efforts during the last 10 years...stormwater fees still dropped like a bomb in taxpayers laps, the city debt continued to rise and there has been very little transparency in the last eight years. 

I am very proud of my almost 38 years of service to the city of Chattanooga.  During my service I was extremely vocal about my reservations on many issues and always concerned about the taxpayers money.  During my last couple of years at the city I witnessed an unnecessary waste of millions of dollars...it was at that point I decided to retired.   

I would have been more publicly active in the last four years, but I was busy caring for and burying my dad in 2008, my husband in 2009 and my mom in 2012.   When Sally Robinson decided to retire I knew this was my time to step forward and offer my public service to the citizens.

I am writing to offer my support for Roger Tuder as candidate for Chattanooga City Council District 2. I have known Roger for 25 years and have always been impressed with the drive and commitment he has to help people and this community. It has never been about self-gain for Roger, he truly has that desire to help people.   

What’s different about Roger from most people who run for a position such as this is that he’s not a politician. He’s a smart man with a lot of common sense. He grew up in Chattanooga and truly understands and cares about the needs and concerns the people of this community have. 

Roger is a strong proponent of public safety. He’s a tireless advocate for support of our public safety personnel. He will work to insure they have all the tools and resources needed to effectively execute their duties and provide a safe and friendly community for the residents to live, work and raise their families.  

My vote will be for Roger Tuder who will strive to make our community a better and safer place for our family to live.
