Natalie Deborah Schlack, 89, of East Ridge, died on Monday, January 7, 2013 in a local hospital.  

She was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Richard and Alma Marie Rentz Schlack.  She had been a member of Ascension Lutheran Church since 1935, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and served on the church council.

Natalie was a graduate of Central High School and the University of Chattanooga and received her Masters in English from the University of Wisconsin. She taught English at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the University of Chattanooga. She retired in 1988 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as registrar.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alma Schlack.

Survivors include her brother, Theodore (Marion) Schlack; niece, Virginia (James) Rothenberger and their son, Brian; nephew, Richard (Carolyn) Schlack and their sons, Weston and Trevor; nephew, Steven (Susan) Schlack and their sons, Devon and Spencer.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, at Ascension Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Crim officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12–1 p.m. on Saturday at the church and there will be fellowship time following the service.

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge.
