Callers In Bradley County Seeking Personal Information

  • Friday, November 15, 2013
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted by concerned citizens after receiving calls attempting to obtain their personal information.

The callers present themselves to be representatives of the governments Medicaid program.  On caller ID they show to originate from the 617 area code, which is the Boston area, but with today’s technology they could originate anywhere.  It has been reported the caller has a foreign accent described by one person as Jamaican.

Anyone receiving a call attempting to obtain personal information such as Social Security number, maiden name, or date of birth, should hang up. Officials said, "It is their intent to use your information for identity theft."

Anyone who has been a victim of this fraud should contact their local law enforcement agency.
