Clerk And Master Lee Akers Retiring In September; Applications Taken In April

Clerk and Master Lee Akers announced Tuesday that he will be retiring in early September.

Mr. Akers has served in the post since 1996.

The two chancellors make the appointment for the office that serves Chancery Court. Current Chancellors are Frank Brown and Jeff Atherton.

Mr. Akers said the chancellors are asking that potential appointees submit resumes to him beginning in April.  Interviews will begin in May.

He said it is expected that a decision will be made in mid-June on the new appointee.

Mr. Akers is paid $106,016. 


Fire Displaces Family Of 4

Chattanooga firefighters responded to two working structure fires at roughly the same time. At  12:29 p.m. , fire broke out in a single-story house at 2201 Rawlings Street. Battalion Chief Carlos Hampton said smoke and flames were visible coming from two sides of the house. Hensley Succeeds Henry As Soddy-Daisy Athletic Director

Soddy-Daisy baseball coach Jared Hensley has added a new role to his duties. Hensley, who has coached the baseball Trojans for eight years with a 177-111 record and state tournament appearances in 2011 and 2015, is the school’s new athletic director.
