District Attorney From Illinois Dies In Truck Crash At Wildwood, Ga.

The district attorney for Hancock County, Ill., died in a single vehicle accident on Georgia Highway 299 at Wildwood, Ga., late Saturday night.

Authorities said 53-year-old James Drozdz from Hamilton, Ill., also drove a truck for Dot Foods.

He crashed the tractor-trailer he was driving around 11:15 p.m. at the eastbound entrance ramp to I-24.

The Georgia State Patrol said he tried to make a left turn on the entrance ramp, but the four-wheeler left the roadway and struck an embankment.

He had served as the county’s state’s attorney since defeating an incumbent in November 2004. He was unopposed in 2008 and 2012.


Judge Finds Young Guilty Of Lesser Charge In Fatal Wreck On Highway 58

Judge Tom Greenholtz on Wednesday found William Henry Young guilty of a lesser charge in a fatal traffic accident on Highway 58. Dalton Woman Killed, 2 Others Injured In Wreck In Whitfield County; Funeral For Joan Lutz Is Saturday

A woman was killed and two other people injured in a wreck on Reed Road in Whitfield County on Monday afternoon. The Georgia State Patrol said a car driven by 18-year-old Skylar James Williams of Tunnel Hill went across the center line on a curve of the southbound lane. Notre Dame Draws Top Ranked Greeneville, CCS Opens With Madison Magnet
