Rev. Buddy L. Dykes, 71, of Soddy Daisy, died on Sunday, February 24, 2013.

Reverend Dykes ministered for many years at several area churches including Hooker Church of God, Midway Baptist Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Dykes was preceded in death by parents, Grady and Lillie Dykes; son, Tony Dykes; grandson, Stevie Elrod.

Survivors include wife of 53 years, Wanda Dykes; son, Buddy (Tammy) Dykes; daughters, Connie (Corky) Flerl, Theresa (Steve) Elrod of Soddy Daisy; daughter-in-law, Lisa (Greeson) Dykes of Chickamauga; brothers, Winfred Dykes of Rossville, Bill and Jimmy Dykes of Trenton; sisters, Lois Simmons of Trenton, Joyce York of Athens, Tn.; seven grandchildren and seven great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Quillen Thurman and Reverend James Dotson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton County Memorial Park. 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dortha loved to garden, canning and taking care of her family. She never met a stranger and always welcomed you in her home for a meal. DA Pinkston Files Petition To Declare 2 Gangs A Public Nuisance

District Attorney General Neal Pinkston filed a petition on Monday, asking that two Chattanooga gangs, the Gangster Disciples and the Grape Street Crips, and their members be declared public nuisances. Boy In Critical Condition; Another Person Stabbed And Man Shot In Dispute At Apartments On Citico Avenue

A boy is in critical condition after being stabbed on Sunday afternoon in what police described as a dispute between neighbors.
