Robert Earl “Bobby” Sharp, Sr., 72, of Dayton, TN, died on Sunday, February 3, 2013. 

He was born August 27, 1940 in Dayton to the late Charles Ivory and Mary (Johnson) Sharp; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Ivory Sharp, Jr.; and sister, Phyllis Cofield.

A lifelong resident of Dayton, he had been employed as a cook at Mansfield’s Restaurant and retired from Robinson Manufacturing Company.

He is survived by his four sons, Robert (Karry) Sharp, Jr., Randy (Christina) Sharp, Chucky (Nancy) Sharp, all of Pikeville and Stevie Sharp of Dayton; two daughters, Madge (Glenn) Dyer of Dayton and Stephanie Sharp of Pikeville; brothers, William (Yolanda) Sharp and Ralph Shar; sister, Jacqueline Roberson, all of Dayton; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; special niece, Nessie Sharp-Logan of Dayton; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Bobby will be held Thursday, February 7 at noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Del Sharp officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Dayton

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral home in Dayton where they will receive friends Thursday, February 7 one hour prior to the funeral.

Keenan Scott Slaughter, 52, of Jasper, TN, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed Slaughter and Millie Duvall Sloan. William “Bill” Wills Dowdy, 82, died on May 23, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, following a very brief illness. He was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Brownsville, Tn., to the late Arvil Odell Dowdy and Alma Juanita Bright Dowdy. Bill was a graduate of Red Bank High School. Woman Killed In Early-Morning Wreck On Thrasher Pike

A woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in the 1200 block of Thrasher Pike early Saturday morning. Soddy Daisy Police Chief Phillip Hamrick said a female passenger was ejected from the vehicle. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
