Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

U.S. 27 (SR-29) reconstruction project from Manufacturers Road (Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River) to U.S. 127 (SR-8, Signal Mountain Boulevard):  Weather permitting, the contractor will have lane closures throughout the project area on weeknights from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. to perform road work.  They will also be working on retaining walls and bridges throughout the project area.  During this report period, the contractor will have a nighttime right lane closure on U.S. 27 North and South throughout the entire project area to install anchored barrier rail.  The Manufacturers Road entrance ramp onto US 27 North has been closed until spring 2013 to allow for construction of several retaining walls and portions of new bridges.  Detours are posted.  The Manning Street entrance ramp to U.S. 27 North and the Manning Street and Whitehall Road exit ramps from U.S. 27 North have been permanently closed.  All work is weather permitting.  Should inclement weather prevent work from being performed, it will be rescheduled to take place at the earliest possible time.  During nighttime work, at least one lane will remain open in each direction.  THP will assist with traffic control on the project as necessary.  Estimated project completion date is December 2014.   

Shallowford Road widening project from Gunbarrel Road to Jenkins Road, including grading drainage, and paving: The contractor will be laying pipe across the roadway at several locations.  This work will be performed during the day on weekdays only.  Flaggers will be in place to assist with traffic control.  Estimated project completion date is September. 

SR-60 construction of concrete slab bridge over branch (LM 0.44):  (This project is near the Meigs County Line.)  This project is complete with the exception of addressing punchlist items.  Estimated project completion date is February.

East Brainerd Kiwanis (formerly Brainerd Kiwanis) is having its 71st annual BBQ  Friday  and  Saturday, July 28 and 29,  at the Baptist Children's Home, 6623 Lee Hwy.  t Tickets are $10 for pork, beef or a chicken plate. Woman Arrested In Murder Of Eric Burchfield In Hixson; Mother Of Victim Said, "Ember Killed Him"

A woman has been arrested in the murder of 28-year-old  Eric Burchfield i n Hixson early Friday morning. Police identified her as Ember Lee Cash Elm. She was booked as Emily Leanne Brooks Johnson, 26, of 4024 Woodmont Dr. At 3:25 a.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a person who had been shot at the Kangaroo Express at 4849 Hixson Pike. Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson Booked At County Jail; Says He Is Not Guilty

Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson was booked at the Bradley County Jail Friday morning. He faces six separate charges of altering/falsifying/forging a title plate assignment.
