  • Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Six graduates of Chattanooga State Continuing Education’s CNA training course were heavily recruited after passing the state certification exam. Students completing their CNA training were Bevan Adams, Linda Frame, Kelle Mansfield, Morgan Mansfield, Lori Silva and Jennifer Walker.

John Steele, Memorial Hospital’s director of human resources, offered a sizable signing bonus to the graduates. Kimberly Steele, Memorial Hospital’s human resources information tech/recruiter was also present at the graduation. Representatives from Alexian Brothers who made presentations to the graduates about career opportunities with their organizations included Deb Baker, RN, chief nursing officer, Alexian Village, Robin Jackson, executive director, Alexian Inn, and Matthew Liers, associate director of nursing. Karla Woodby, administrative director of nursing and acute services, Siskin Rehabilitation Hospital provided the graduates with information regarding open positions as well.

According to Continuing Education manager, Patricia Gardner, “The need for certified nursing assistants is critical. Medical facilities are aggressively recruiting personnel to fill vacant positions in this area.”

The next CNA training course begins June 3 and ends July 6. The 112-hour class meets from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Students will learn to work in an entry-level position at a nursing home, hospital, and other healthcare settings helping the professional nursing staff with the care of sick or disabled patients.
