Mary Gaines
Mary Evelyn Gaines, 81, died on May 14, 2013.
Mary Evelyn was a graduate of the 1950 Class of Howard High School and after graduating she was employed with Memorial Hospital. Mary later moved to Detroit, where she gained employment with the Detroit Medical Center and retired after over 30 years of service.
Mary Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Williams McKinley and Mattie M. Hubbard, a dear sister, Lois Smith; brother, Robert McKinley Hubbard; husband, Randolph Gaines and nephew, Richard Johnson.
Mary Evelyn is survived by nephews, Darnell (Emily) Baker, Michael Baker and Bruce A. (Connie) Hubbard; cousins, Edward (Atheria) Freeman, Howard N. Freeman, Tarnya Porter; great-nieces, Rhonda (Christopher) Adams, Michelle (Tyrone) Bradford, Tiffany (Darryl) Cox, Teisha (Javarus) McGowan and Natalie Gregory; a host of other great-nephews, nieces and cousins; very special friends, Louise Johnson, Charles and Loretta Coleman; Detroit family of Friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 25, at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
