UTC's Dothard Named To CFPA Watch List

  • Monday, June 10, 2013

College Football Performance Awards, the largest awards organization in D-I college football, recently announced its watch list for the 2013 CFPA Linebacker Award, and Chattanooga's Wes Dothard earned a spot on the list.

The preliminary watch list highlights 35 returning performers, vying for the top individual linebacker award in the Football Championship Subdivision.

"Congratulations to Wes Dothard on earning a spot on the 2013 CFPA Watch List," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Dothard has been one of the nation's top defensive performers over the past two seasons."

Dothard is the fifth Moc named to the CFPA Watch List, following sophomore QB Jacob Huesman, junior TE Faysal Shafaat, senior defensive lineman Derrick Lott and junior defensive end Davis Tull.

This is the second straight year Dothard has been named to the CFPA Watch List.  He is a two-time All-American and has 214 career tackles.  He was named to The Sports Network FCS All-American 3rd Team after leading the Mocs with 94 tackles in 2012.  He is also a two-time first team All-Southern Conference pick and will again lead one of the top defenses in the nation next season.

All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration.

The full list of 2013 recipients, including the 2013 CFPA FCS Awards, will be announced on January 8, 2014.  For more information, visit the Official CFPA Website (http://www.collegefootballperformance.com). Follow CFPA on Twitter @CFPerformance.
