David Claridy
Reverend David Wilson Claridy, Sr., 68, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 in a local hospital.
Reverend Claridy spent many years as an evangelist, was a member of Suck Creek Baptist Church and had been attending Union Avenue Baptist Church. He was a retired truck driver and owner of Claridy Distributors. Mr. Claridy served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and he loved hunting and fishing. His passion in life was his family which he dearly loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Nancy Claridy, and sisters, Kathy Phillips and Nancy “Sister” Brooks.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Melda Camp Claridy; son and daughter-in-law, David and Wendy Claridy; grandchildren, Troy McFall, Aaron Claridy, Audrey Claridy Shukers, Garrett McFall and Whitney Claridy; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Lionel, Thomas, and Russell Claridy; sisters, Louise Arnold, Giselle Buckner, Candy Hurst and Betsy Claridy; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 21, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Roger Dehart and Reverend William Painter officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with military honors.
