The Home Depot places emphasis on giving back to the local community where the associates live and work.
With their Team Depot program, each store chooses a nonprofit to donate materials to, and the employees volunteer at the nonprofit on their days off. “What I get out of doing this, they can’t put a price on that,” says Darrell Pinegar, Cleveland Store Manager.
So far, Team Depot has donated painting supplies and tools to paint the school’s chapel, student center, and admissions office; and building materials for constructing tables for the greenhouse, an integral part of the school’s horticulture program. They also donated items like blinds, carpet, and a large brush mower to help maintain the trails and lake area on the 200-acre campus. Team Depot coordinated their schedules to be able to be on the Bachman campus on their days off to work on the projects together.
"The projects completed by Team Depot this summer will make a significant difference in the day-to-day lives of our students," said Anne Cadle, director of Development at Bachman. "The new tables in the greenhouse are such an improvement for the horticulture students. The lighting in our chapel has improved 100 percent, just by a coat of paint and new blinds, which will make it easier for our dyslexic students to see, and easier for our ADHD students to focus when they have classes in that space. Everything Team Depot has contributed and accomplished will directly impact the lives of these students with learning disabilities. We cannot thank them enough."
