H. Doyle Merciers, Jr.
H. Doyle Merciers, Jr., 65, of Chickamauga, Georgia, died on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at his home.
He retired from Wrigleys Manufacturing and U.S. Pipe-Soil Pipe Division and was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Ridgedale Masonic Lodge and was of the Church of God faith. He was a die-hard Georgia Bulldogs fan and loved hunting, classic cars and his work shop.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Doyle Merciers, Sr., mother, Georgia Kathryn Pruitt and son, Philip Lee Merciers.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie Merciers, children, Christy Minchew Mooney-Crestview, FL, C. Todd (Becky) Minchew-Pikeville, NC, Jason Merciers, Chickamauga, and Jennifer Merciers (Jon) Phillips, Ringgold, stepmother, Ionie Merciers, Higdon, AL, grandchildren, Savannah Phillips, Elijah Merciers, Mikalia Merciers, Tristan Mooney, Devin Minchew, Ashlyn Hollaway, Koren Minchew, Nicholas Merciers, Josh Merciers, Brett Merciers and Alex Merciers, siblings, Richard (Mary) Merciers, Chickamauga, Tim Merciers, Higdon, AL, Stephen (Nancy) Merciers, Ider, AL, Robert (Anita) Merciers, Rossville, and April (Steven) Rayburn, Surprise, AZ.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with the Reverend Edmund Stallings and Reverend Jack Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at the Chickamauga City Cemetery where military honors will be conducted. Jason Merciers, Todd Minchew, Jon Phillips, Sr., Matt Weitz, Joey Minnis, Josh Hayes and Jon Phillips will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4-8 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
