April Michelle Gammill, wanted in connection with an incident on Monday in which a TBI agent was almost run over, was taken into custody on Tuesday morning.
The Bradley County Communications Center received calls from several people in the Mountain Road area who had observed a woman carrying a small dog. Patrol deputies from the Bradley County Sheriff's Office responded and took Ms. Gammill, 34, into custody just after 7:30 a.m.
The search for Howard Calloway continues.
A manhunt began after the pair fled into the woods a short distance from where the TBI attempted to serve warrants. The Bradley County Sheriff’s office later obtained additional warrants against the couple.
TBI was attempting to take Callaway, 39, of Cleveland, into custody on 32 counts of aggravated burglary out of Bradley County and violating his federal probation while on supervised released. The agent attempted to stop Calloway at the intersection of Bancroft Road and Harrison Pike when Callaway fled and attempted to run over the agent with his vehicle. The agent fired his weapon. Callaway and his passenger fled approximately two miles up Harrison Pike, abandoned the vehicle and ran into the woods on foot.
Investigators were unsure if Callaway or Ms. Gammill were injured during the incident. The TBI agent involved in the altercation was not injured.
Callaway is described as a white male, six feet tall and 200 pounds with a tattoo on his right shoulder. He has an arrest history that includes theft, aggravated burglary, domestic assault, being a fugitive from justice, drug violations, assault and vandalism.
Ms. Gammill was wanted on a felony warrant for violating her probation on a conviction of three counts of sale and delivery of methamphetamine. She has a criminal history that includes theft, failure to appear and drug possession.
