Morris Rudolph “Rudy” Taylor
An elderly Collegedale man, Morris Rudolph "Rudy" Taylor, was found safe in Georgia on Monday morning, after being reported missing on Sunday.
Mr. Taylor was located about three hours away in Habersham County, Ga. At about 4:19 a.m., Mr. Taylor was discovered to have been traveling south in the northbound lane of Highway 365.
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office was able to stop the vehicle and found Mr. Taylor in good health, but severely disoriented. Mr. Taylor told the sheriff’s deputies that he was on his way to Kentucky, where he believed his residence was.
Mr. Taylor has been returned to the custody of his family and is on his way back home.
Officials said, "The Collegedale Police Department is extremely pleased with the Silver Alert system and the fast action of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office to secure Rudy’s safe return.
Mr. Taylor, 86, went missing from his Collegedale home Sunday afternoon around 2 p.m.
Authorities were notified a little after 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, and had initiated a Silver Alert for Mr. Taylor covering all states east of the Mississippi River.
