Astronomy Activities Will Be Available At Cloudland Canyon Arts And Crafts Celebration

  • Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Barnard Astronomical Society will participate in the Cloudland Canyon Arts and Crafts Celebration on Nov. 1-2 at Cloudland Canyon State Park. BAS will have an information booth at the vendor area and will set up telescopes for solar observation in the afternoon near the Interpretive Center. These telescopes are equipped with special filters so the sun can be viewed safely.  Participants will see sunspots, and BAS members will be on hand to answer questions about the Sun and anything else astronomically related.

Participants will then move to the Tennis Courts and as the sky begins to darken, watch the brightest stars begin to appear and identify stars and constellations. Later when it gets dark, they will see some of the wonders of the night sky like you have never seen them before through our telescopes.

These programs are free and open to everyone of all ages. The usual park parking fee of $5.00 per car applies.
