David Michael Moreland, 66, of Cohutta, GA, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at his residence.
Michael was born September 5, 1948 in Dalton, to the late John Henry and Armoree Grant Moreland; and was also preceded in death by his sister, Henda Sloan.
Michael owned Executive Pest Services for over 25 years and was a pest control professional for over 42 years. He was a member of Varnell Baptist Church.
Michael is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Moreland; son, Chris McCollum; loving sister and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Noel Clark and Lamar Sloan; grandchildren, Tyler McCollum, Tara McCollum and Tristan McCollum; brother, Lee Moreland; and several loving nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Michael Moreland will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4, at Varnell Baptist Church, with Pastor Bret Bellamy and Brother Tim Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Varnell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Funeral Home Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m on Friday, October 3 and until 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested contributions to the Kidney foundation or to the family for funeral expenses.
