Bobby Joe Tankersley, 62, of Dalton, GA, died Friday morning, November 7, 2014 at the local hospital.
Bobby was born January 17, 1952 in Athens, TN to the late Clarence Virgil and Anna Louise Jenkins Tankersley; and was also preceded in death by a brother, Leroy Tankersley; a sister, Patricia Hooker; and a brother-in-law, Jack Culberson.
Bobby was a 1971 graduate of North Whitfield High School. He was a lifelong member of The Church of God of The Union Assembly. Bobby loved wood working and playing the mandolin.
He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Tankersley who was his twin, and Charlotte Culberson both of Dalton, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Barbara Tankersley of Chatsworth, GA and Jack and Birdie Tankersley of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ernest and Shirley Hooker of Altoona, FL; special friends, Peggy Wilson and Lois Gentry both of Dalton, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Bobby J. Tankersley will be held Sunday, November 9, at 3 p.m. at The Church of God of The Union Assembly with Reverend Stoney Kiser, Reverend Dale Brewer, Reverend Lonnie Starnes and Reverend Charlie Pratt officiating. He will be laid to rest at the West Hill Cemetery with Clinton Tankersley, Matt Tankersley, Eric Peters, Jackie Tankersley, Franklin Mallett and Eddie Mallett serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Saturday, November 8 and after 11 a.m. Sunday, November 9.
