Obadiah Twiggs
Rev. Obadiah Kenneth Twiggs, 72, of Hixson, died on Thursday morning, November 6, 2014.
He was the son of the late Dr. Verree Twiggs Stormes and the late Mr. Belton Henry Stormes.
He was a native of Madison, and attended public schools in Madison and Jacksonville, Florida; attended college at North Carolina A. & T. University, and graduated from Florida A. & M. University; member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and a 32nd Degree Mason; life long member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church; started his ministry in Memphis, in 1979 and retired from active ministry 2011; served the following Churches--Hollow Rock Circuit, Lewis Chapel, Brown Chapel (West TN); St. Paul, Columbia (TN Conf.); Bethel Chattanooga and Allen Temple (East TN).
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Heard Twiggs and son, Belton (Elisa) Twiggs; other children, Dwayne (Priscilla) Twiggs, Middleburg, FL; Veree Twiggs Vereen, Miami, FL; and Obadiah K. (Robin)Twiggs, Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fl.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; three aunts, three sisters-in-law, many relatives, godchildren, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at Bethel AME Church. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The body will lie in state after noon on Monday, Nov. 10, and the family will receive friends from 6–7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
