  • Thursday, December 11, 2014
Vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County (Chattanooga) will operate during special hours for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Vehicle emissions testing centers in Hamilton County will close at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and will remain closed through Friday, Dec. 26 for the Christmas holiday. The stations at 5206 Austin Road in Hixson and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga will be open for testing on Saturday, Dec. 27 from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Additionally, all Hamilton County vehicle emissions testing centers will close at 3 p.m.
on Wednesday, Jan. 31 (New Year’s Eve) and will remain closed on Thursday, Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday. All stations will resume testing on Friday, Jan. 2 at their regular scheduled hours.

“Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems. “It’s a good idea to take vehicles mid-week when testing volume is usually lighter and to avoid testing in the final days of the month. Vehicle emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality.”

·         5206 Austin Road in Hixson. and 720 Eastgate Loop in Chattanooga, are open Tuesday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and for both locations, Saturday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday.
