Lehr, Lillian Opal Merriman (South Pittsburg)

Lillian Opal Merriman Lehr, 100, of South Pittsburg, TN, died Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in a local nursing home. 

The daughter of the late Homer Sewell and Bertha Jane Elizabeth Johnson Merriman, she was born in Bridgeport, AL and was raised in the Raulstontown community in South Pittsburg. She was one of the last “Pioneer” women who could make something out of anything and was a very talented quilter and gardener. She was a member of the South Pittsburg Church of Christ, which was a major part of her life. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lehr; and two daughters, Janet Webb and Barbara Nell Lehr. 

She is survived by her children, Sherry Jones of Lebanon, TN, Ann Sumler of South Pittsburg, Allan Lehr of Signal Mountain, TN and Elaine (Jim) Beene of Oak Ridge, TN; 18 grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be conducted from the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Central time on Saturday, December 6. Interment will be in Rocky Springs Cemetery in Bridgeport, AL. 

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, December 5 from 6-8 p.m. Central time at the Rogers Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
