Career Coach Will Be In Jasper Next Tuesday

  • Wednesday, February 19, 2014

The Department of Correction Employment Specialist will team up with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce to bring its mobile Career Coach to Jasper next Tuesday. The Career Coach provides assistance to probationers and parolees in need of employment. The bus is equipped with a dozen computers, internet access and help from “career coaches” who assist individuals searching for employment and creating proper resumes.

The TDOC Career Coach Bus will be at the Marion County Justice Center, 5 Oak Street, Jasper, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Our main responsibility is to assist with reintegrating offenders back into the workforce,” said Stephen Darrow, an employment specialist with TDOC. “Offenders are paying bills and they’re not out committing crimes. They get a steady pay-check; they gain more confidence in themselves, and formulate a career-plan.”
