  • Sunday, February 2, 2014

Three people have been charged with an early morning aggravated robbery in East Ridge.

Summer Burkhart, 23, of 1311 E. Sherry Dr., Rossville; Clara Binkley, 43, and Terry Butts, 42, of 7807 Hixson Pike, are also charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Police said a man said he had been approached by Ms. Burkhart at about 2:30 a.m. on Belvoir Avenue at which time she requested a ride to the Waverly Motel. He agreed to take her to the motel.

Police said once they arrived he was forced into a motel room at knife point by the three defendants, who demanded money. After the man gave them all the cash he had with him, he and the three defendants traveled in two vehicles to an ATM machine so that he could withdraw additional cash.

Ms. Burkhart traveled to the ATM with the victim in his vehicle. Once the victim gave the additional cash to the defendants, they all left in their own vehicle.

The victim then contacted police to report the incident. The defendants were later located and interviewed by police.

They are scheduled to appear in East Ridge City Court on Feb. 11.

East Ridge Police did not give the name of the victim.
