James Earl Evans, 91, of Crossville, TN, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014.  

He served in the United States Army during WWII.

Earl was preceded in death by parents, Herbert and Minnie Evans; sister, Eloise Singleton; and brothers, Gerald D. and Harold Evans.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Edna Evans; two sons, Ron (Debra) Evans and Gary (Sandra) Evans, both of Ohio; grandchildren, Mindy (Matt) Pohlabel, Amber (Aaron) Shaffer, Glen (Karen) Chambers, Matthew (Elizabeth) Evans and Michelle Evans (Brent Wiles);  nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Evelyn (Bill) McCulley, Soddy Daisy and Juanita Ogburn, FL.; two brothers, Donald (Esther) Evans, FL and Milburn (Brenda) Evans, OH; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be Saturday, March 29 at 1 p.m. CDT in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Akins Cemetery in Cumberland County.   

Arrangements are by Putnam-Reed Funeral Home, Hwy 127 South, Pikeville, where the family will receive friends on Friday, March 28 from 4-8 p.m. CDT.
