The Bryan College baseball team played a doubleheader against Point University at home Saturday. The SkyHawks won game one 5-3. The Lions bounced back and game two 10-6. The baseball team is now 13-10 overall and 5-1 in the AAC.
In game one, Point scored two runs in their first at-bat. Bryan was able to get one run back in the bottom of the inning. The SkyHawks added two more in the second inning and one in the fourth. The Lions scored two runs in the sixth inning off of back-to-back homeruns from Kevin Roberts and Tyler Latham.
Tyler Latham and Kevin Roberts led the offense with solo homeruns. Latham finished with one RBI, one hit, and one run scored; while Roberts finished with one RBI, one hit, and two runs scored. Grant Zawadzki recorded one RBI and one hit. Justin Morhardt, Cody Rhinehart, and Joey Underwood added one hit apiece.
Tristan Speak started on the mound for the Lions and received the loss. He gave up five runs, three earned, and eight hits in three and one-third innings of work. John Cain pitched the rest of the game. He struck out four batters and did not give up a hit.
In game two, Point scored two runs in their first at-bat again. Bryan scored four runs in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run homerun by Grant Zawadzki. The SkyHawks scored a run in the third inning. The Lions tacked two more on in the fourth inning. Point added another to their tally in the fifth inning. Bryan crossed the plate three times in the bottom of the inning, including a solo homerun by Preston King. The SkyHawks scored two in the sixth, and the Lions scored one to get the final score.
Justin Morhardt led the offense with four RBIs, two hits, and one run scored. Grant Zawadzki ended the game with two RBIs, two hits, and two runs scored. Preston King tallied two RBIs, two hits, and one run scored. Kevin Roberts had a team high three hits to go with his one RBI and one run scored. Joey Underwood finished with one RBI, two hits, and two runs scored. Crandon Wallace recorded two hits and one run scored. Cody Rhinehart added one hit and one run scored. Tyler Latham had one hit, and John Cain scored one run.
Hunter Lamoureux started on the mound and earned the win. He gave up three runs and six hits in three innings of work. Kenny Knudsen threw the next two and two-thirds innings. He gave up three runs and six hits. John Cain pitched the final one and one-third innings. He struck out two batters and did not give up a hit.
The Lions play again on Monday at Hiwassee College. The single nine-inning game is scheduled to start at 2:00pm ET.
