Shorter Defeats Lady Roadrunners

Rome, Ga.  The Dalton State women fall to 13-6 in the school’s inaugural season with an 8-1 defeat at Walter Attaway Tennis Center on the campus of Shorter University.

Dalton State’s Laura Winter captured her singles match with Shorter’s Aurelia Goborit, 7-5, 6-0. Shorter (13-6) won all three doubles contests and five of the singles. 

In doubles:

1.  Candice Laurent and Aurelia Goborit (Shorter) def. Chelsea Powell and LindsayMcCutchen (DS), 8-0. 

2.  Aurore Bettrando and Samya El Hsissen (Shorter) def. Daniela Sanchez and Diana Narino (DS), 9-7.

3. Sicquena Sinclair and Omella Frere (Shorter) def. Laura Wiinter and Maria Alejandra Bejarano (DS), 8-2. 

In singles:

Greer Wins Mid-Amateur In Playoff

Knoxville's Ryan Greer defeated Franklin's Kevin Watford in a playoff Friday and won the 27th Tennessee Mid-Amateur Championship at The Honors Course. Greer and Watford each finished at 212, with Greer winning with a par on the first hole of sudden death. Plan Revived For 5-Story Boutique Hotel Next To The Walnut Street Bridge

Plans have been revived for a five-story boutique hotel next to the Walnut Street Bridge. Vision Hospitality Group said the yet-to-be named hotel will provide 90 rooms featuring high-end amenities and exemplary service in the city's art district. Grand Jury Says County Needs To Start "Immediately" On Funding A New County Jail

Better Plan For Walnut Street Hotel
