The Tennessee Smokies toppled the Chattanooga Lookouts 8-2 in their series finale Sunday afternoon at Smokies Stadium and won the series, 4-1.

Tennessee's overall record is 5-5, while the Lookouts are 3-7.

Wes Darvill reached base in all four of his plate appearances, collecting a team-high three hits while driving in three runs, and was the lone player from either side to record a multi-hit effort. The shortstop has heated up at the plate in his last two games, collecting five hits in his last six at bats after starting the year 0-for-15.

After Chattanooga took the early advantage thanks to SS Ozzie Martinez's RBI single in the second, the Smokies would answer right back with a six spot in the next half inning. 3B Kris Bryant and RF John Andreoli both walked before Darvill brought both home with his double to right to give Tennessee the lead. Then, after starting pitcher Matt Loosen helped his own cause with a run-scoring single to left, CF Zeke DeVoss and 2B Stephen Bruno smashed back-to-back jacks to cap the six-run frame and put the Smokies up 6-1.

It would become 6-2 when the Lookouts got one of those six scores back in the fourth. RF Jeremy Hazelbaker began the inning with a base knock to right, before being plated via pinch hitter Brian Cavazos-Galvez's RBI double down the left field line.

Tennessee would tack on additional insurance in the seventh, scoring a run on a bases-loaded free pass before Darvill drove home his third RBI with a single to right. It was a pedestrian day at the plate for both Smokies and Lookouts hitters, with the two teams combining to draw 16 walks, as well as a hit-by-pitch.

In addition to driving in a run, Matt Loosen earned the win to improve to 1-0 after giving up two earned runs on four hits, striking out five in five frames pitched, while Lookouts starter Garrett Gould suffered the defeat to drop to 0-2. The Smokies relief corps would then join forces to silence Chattanooga hitters the rest of the way, combining to yield just one hit in the final four frames.

Curtis Adams: Beck, Mackey Should Be Considered For County Commission Leadership

Just think about this;  a person highly qualified applying for a job.  As he is just about finished filling out his papers for his interview, he sees at the bottom there is a place for him to check Democrat or Republican.  He would think, “if I mark the wrong one I may not get the job.” Being a real leader requires honesty, integrity, and, most importantly, fairness. ...
