Dalton State Announces 2014 SSAC Volleyball Schedule

Dalton State athletics teams begin their first season as a member of the Southern States Athletics Conference in the fall with an August 23 volleyball Tri-Match in the newly remodeled Bandy Gymnasium..

“I’m super excited to be playing in the SSAC this year,” said Lady Roadrunner volleyball coach Bruna Langner. 

“It’s one of the best conferences for volleyball in the country,” she added. “Playing good teams in the conference will make us so much better. I am counting the days to fall and ready for the competition to start.”

Coach Langner announced the tentative 2014 schedule that begins with Tennessee Temple, Milligan College, and Dalton State meeting at Bandy. 

Dalton State and Tennessee Temple will square off at 11:00 a.m., Milligan and Tennessee Temple play at 1:00 p.m., and the Lady Roadrunners face Milligan at 3:00 p.m.

The new volleyball schedule will have 26 regular season contests with half of those at the newly remodeled Bandy Gym. 

The Lady Roadrunners entertain Southern Wesleyan on August 29 at 7:00 p.m. before going to Truett-McConnell in Cleveland, GA on September 2nd.

The first two SSAC battles will be at Bandy. Brewton-Parker comes in on September 5 and Coastal Georgia on September 6.

Next comes Tennessee Temple in Chattanooga on September 9.

Beginning the 2013 season less than a month after their first ever team practice, the Lady Roadrunners finished with an impressive 10 win and 14 loss season record.

Home games were held at Mack Gaston Community Center and Dalton High School as extensive renovations were made to the on campus gym.



Venable, Barringer Win Dan Tribble Junior Titles

Tucker Venable shot 72-69--141 on Monday and Tuesday and won the Boys 16-18 Division of the 2014 Dan Tribble Chattanooga PGA Junior at the Creeks Bend Golf Club. Heidi Barringer shot 72-74--146 and won the Girls 15-18 Division. Dylan Lillard (74-74--148) won the Boys 14-15 while Tucker Windham won the Boys 12-13. Men's 3.5 Tennis Team Win State

The "Chattanooga" men's 3.5 tennis team posted a 4-0 record to win the USTA Tennessee state team title this past weekend and will compete in the Southern Sectional August  22-24 in Asheville,N.C. EPB Says It Did Not Overbill The City; Says City Got $685,877 Break

EPB officials said Tuesday that an exhaustive audit of its street light contract with the city showed that it did not overbill the city. Instead, it said it found that the city was underbilled $685,877. EPB said it only goes back one year on errors so the amount owed by the city would be $178,314.
